The introduction of the 964 in 1989 marked the most significant evolution to the iconic 911 in its 25-year history to date.
Designed by Benjamin Dimson, it was the first Porsche to offer both Tiptronic automatic transmission and all-wheel drive options amongst other innovations. In 1993 towards the end of the 5-year production, the 964 Turbo 3.6 was revealed, finally featuring the long-awaited turbocharged version of the new 3.6-litre M64 engine.
With less than 1,500 examples produced in total over just one model year, the Turbo 3.6 is one of the rarer Porsche models. Just 134 standard RHD cars were made, with only 68 being UK-delivered.

The first 964 was launched with a new, naturally-aspirated 3.6-litre air-cooled, flat-six M64 engine and coil spring suspension, with power steering and ABS brakes fitted as standard.
The body was also significantly different with bumpers and headlights integrated into the bodywork, whilst an electric rear spoiler was introduced.
Porsche unveiled the first 964 Turbo in March 1990, which used a revised version of the 3.3-litre 930 engine before the 964 Turbo 3.6 was finally released in January 1993.
Improvements included an upgraded braking setup and lowered suspension, a Carrera RS rear axle, matching rear bumper and 18-inch three-piece Speedline by Porsche alloys.
Our car is a well-loved and properly driven example as suggested by an extensive history file. It was also fitted with a KW Variant 3 suspension kit in 2009.
Belonging to the current owner since 2010, the car has had a full annual service and MOT in February 2018, with latest mileage given as 90,141 miles.
It underwent a comprehensive engine rebuild, and bare-metal bodywork repaint and restoration at a total cost of just under £40,000 in 2012.
The car has also been re-fitted with an original set of Porsche Speedline alloys, returning it much to its original form.
The 911 Turbo is such an important part of Porsche’s history and has always been the flagship of the road car range.
An extremely usable, high performance example, the driving experience is modern, ‘easy fast’ with effortless thrust available. It is the diametric opposite of the more frenzied and focused 964 RS. Modern tyres make wet weather driving far less intimidating too.
This car has been maintained fastidiously by its perfectionist collector owner.
