model history
The 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 was a pivotal model in Porsche’s history, bridging the gap between the legendary 2.7 Carrera RS and the upcoming 911 SC. Introduced in 1975 and produced until 1977, it featured a 3.0 litre flat-six engine derived from the 930 Turbo, but without a turbocharger. This engine produced 200 horsepower, offering impressive performance while being more reliable than its 2.7-litre predecessor.
Visually, the Carrera 3.0 retained the classic wide rear fenders with the early option of a ducktail spoiler, enhancing both aerodynamics and stability. Porsche only produced 3,687 units, making it a rare and highly sought-after model among collectors. Weighing just 1,095 kg, it maintained the lightweight philosophy of earlier 911s, contributing to its agile handling.
this car
Chassis 9116600127 was delivered new in its current specification of Ice Green Metallic over a Midnight Leatherette interior with Shetland Inlays. The car still has its matching numbers engine and has had a total of 4 owners in 50 years.
The car’s previous owner, a gentleman with a true love and appreciation for the model, purchased ‘Frieze’ as he affectionately nicknamed the car in 2015 and over the course of 5 years, carried out a bare shell restoration. The bodywork was done by GTR Motorsport, the chassis work by Williams Crawford, interior by Classic FX and the full engine rebuild by JZM in 2020.
The car has driven less than 2,000 miles since the restoration was completed and as a result presents superbly having been very well looked after and serviced regularly by its current owner whom we sold the car to in 2022.
