details

This German market (C00) left-hand drive 964 RS was completed on 11 December 1991 and had minimal use in Germany before being sold to Japan in January 1993 where it remained for 23 years with a succession of 3 owners. Unusually for a Japanese car, during that time it maintained a full and uninterrupted service history which shows the car was regularly serviced. Further details of its time in Japan are available as its entire history has been thoroughly translated by a previous owner.

In 2015 the car was imported to the UK before being sold to its next owner in 2016 who employed Center Gravity suspension tuning experts to enhance the geometry on the car and as a result, it drives superbly. The car has done just over 3,000 miles since bringing the total mileage to 34,700. The history file is extensive and apart from some localised paint, the car remains in authentic condition with a fully original interior and no evidence of after-market fitments like a roll cage or radio.

This car drives beautifully, as firmly as the factory intended, striking the perfect balance for fast road use and it pulls cleanly and enthusiastically from low revs.
Our thoughts

Having sold several 964 RS in the last year, our enthusiasm for the model is well-known.  While benefitting from modern electronics and safety features such as ABS, they still embody the purity and spirit of the early Sports Purpose cars.  Criticised when new for their uncompromising set-up, these cars now feel vibrant and alive, giving the driver a level of feedback and direct involvement that is perhaps missing from more recent iterations of the RS catalogue.

This car drives beautifully, as firmly as the factory intended, striking the perfect balance for fast road use and it pulls cleanly and enthusiastically from low revs.  The Polar Silver colour is the antithesis of some of the more acid hues but we think that just adds to the appeal of this particular example, which is in such good condition.
